Yes! Ellie says "mama"!
As a first time mom, it has been easy for me to fret... no... obsess about any situation where I didn't think Ellie's development is progressing according schedule. The books said that at about 6 months, your child "may even be able to babble", but no matter how much time I spent trying to teach her to talk, Ellie seemed contently mute.
Several weeks ago, she started saying "MMUUUUUMMMMM MAAAAAAAA" when she was very upset. As excited as I was that she had grown past the pterodactyl noises, her whiny cries of mama were less than flattering. These past couple of days she has begun babbling. Her repertoire is "mama" and "baba". We're working on "dada" now!

Yay Ellie! That's funny. I remember that Annita also at first only said "maaa maaa!" when she was angry/frustrated :)
