The best apple pie.... ever?

I think I might have made one of the best apple pies I've ever tasted the other day. I'm generally a very strong critic of my food - but this recipe is amazing! I take absolutely no credit for the pie, but pass on all accolades to the folks who came up with the recipe.

I used the all butter pie dough from Smitten Kitchen (since I'm not a proponent of shortening) and the recipe for Sour Cream Apple Pie with Streusel Topping from Simply Recipes. My only edit was adding some walnuts to the streusel. The combination was a heavenly! The crust was flaky, light, a little salty and didn't get soggy. The filling was creamy, and crunchy.... With all the creaminess from the sour cream filling even Dave didn't need ice cream with the pie, which is incredible because Dave prefers all desserts "a la mode".

So, during this next apple season, try this recipe out. It's worth the calories!
